Accidents and illnesses happen every day. Some people need only a helping hand while others may suffer serious permanent injuries without help. By mastering Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) course skills you can render important care to those in need.
Primary Care (CPR) prepares you to render first aid to those with life-threatening emergencies. Secondary Care (First Aid) builds upon the lessons of Primary Care and helps you assist those in need when emergency medical services are either delayed or unavailable.
Course description
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty. The unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations including community and workplace settings. Specific licensing requirements relating to this competency, including requirements for refresher training, should be obtained from the relevant state/territory Work Health and Safety Regulatory Authority.
Target audience
Those who are required to provide an emergency first aid response in a workplace.
Entry requirements
None.
Award issued
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:
- HLTAID003 Provide first aid.
- HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Initial course duration
Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for:
- Mixed mode: Completion of online content and 60 multiple choice question assessment plus 5 hours practical training.
- Face to face: Minimum of 8 hours face to face training.
Refresher course duration
- Mixed Mode: Completion pre-course study plus 4 hours practical training.
- Face to Face: 8 hours face to face training.
Important information regarding course durations
Course durations are based on group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. Class sizes exceeding 15 participants may increase course duration depending on the number of participants.
Course study options
There are 2 different options for completing this course.
- Online training: All resources are online allowing you to complete with confidence the 60 multiple choice questions. After completing the online quiz book into the 5 hour practical session.
- Attend a 3 hour face to face training session: Inclusive of scenarios and 60 multiple choice question quiz.
The pre course study includes 60 multi choice questions. You must take the completed paper, or the online completion print out, with you to the training course.
